- Many others which I have yet to trail
- Cabins with fireplaces for a Christmas stay.
- Swimming Pool

- BBQ Grills
- Mess Hall with a fully equipted kitchen to serve up to 200
- Family cabin fully renovated.
- And all your shopping needs just 3 miles down the hill.

Acsess only granted thru permissions. Cabin Rentals. And private retreat. Great for camping with large groups.

Had the opportunity to take my Saber Youth Football Teams to celebrate their spring season commencement ceremony out here. It was something I had planned on for over 3 months being a back up to an A Frame located out at Pearl Harbor. But the A Frame was overbooked. Fortunately for us this sight was availiable.

I would like to commend my DIV I team ( 7th & 8 th Grade Team ) for their victory in this blogger for taking the Hawaii State Jr. Prep title as the play- off champions defeating Kahuku which is a well established football team. Our Sabers held a undeafeated record all season; no games were lost. This is an achievement and goes to show the bonding within this program and how close the people who organize this league are. Congrats Sabers.

With the close -out on our Spring divisions it has been a pleasure having the opportunity to work with each and everyone of the DIV I boys who are now making their way up to join the James Campbell Sabers JV Team to rep it for our high school. So what a fantastic way to close out with them up here on the mountains of Makakilo.

Our Fall begins on July 10th and alot of new comers will be joinning our program will have the opportunity to do bonding camp here at Camp Timberline. I am looking into 3 day stays for these upcoming teams.

There is a huge Cabin House that has 5 bedrooms and 3 full baths. I have been told is used to sleep staff members up to 28 bodies. It features a fully renovated 2 story victorian style home which the outside appearance may fool some. Because upon entering you will find the ameneties of a fully functional home with stackable washer & dryers and a full blown kitchen , which I love about this place the most.

There are 14 other cabins thru-out the grounds and also tenting area thru-out the mountain. Their mess hall offers seatting for up to 200. And random hot- water showers both indoor and outdoor in different locations.

I will have video update posted later. Sorry hiker friends gotta run. Happy Hiking and be safe !

Spitting Caves - Oahu

Located on the Eastside of Oahu is a neighborhood nestled along the side of Kokohead called Portlock. Not many people are aware of the majestic beauty that lays out on the lowlands of the cliffs here. Only because acsess is thru private trails which unless you grew up around these areas, you would not be able to find them. There is also a very famous fishing spot where people frequant for sardines called China Walls it is also very popular amongst the local surfers who love to ride the huge open channel swells that rest in the waters off this coast line.

This particular site however is a regular spot for me as the fishing here is the main attraction. The water here is a open ocean channel which leads many deep sea fish into the coastal line allowing local fisherman the chance for good shorecasting excitement you would find while trolling on a boat. I have knowledge that Mahi Mahi , O'io , U'lua and Shibi are speared and caught easily 50 - 100 yards right off these cliff areas. The other day I was able to land Moana Kale right below the shelf as well as a couple Mamo's. The brighter the red in the Moana signifies the depth it comes from meanning sweeter & cleaner meat. I didnt see any Weke Ula which is by far my favorite bright orange fish. But Im sure I would need a boat for that kinna catch.

Around the point of this area is a cave located about 65-70ft below the cliffs. It is called the " Spitting Cave ". A popular site in Hawaii Kai which many of the kids in that area love to test their immortality by risking a jump or two into its forcefull spitting of water caused by pressure that fills the cave when the swells fill it. I have never personally jumpped this landmark. And dont plan to because Im not that CRAZY !

There is however a ladder is in tact to help the jumpers get back up to the cliffs and I am sure it was installed by the homeowners that live in this million dollar neighborhood.

You can view the islands as it were back in the days of old off these cliffs as it is still untouched and remains in tact as alot of the trails in the mountains which have not been damaged by development.

The waters on the point on a clear calm day will display turtles, hawaiian monk seal , sharks and many marine life in a vast variety of colors.

There is also a little hidden patch of greensand ( olivine crystals ) known as peridot. Which is a breakoff of the cylinder along side the eastside coastline. They are very fine grains of green crystals which is said to have healing minerals properties in them. The form here is not pure as there is white coral mixxed in with it. And because I know first hand about precious gem stones thought it was not worth bottling up like the crystals I found out in Ka`u on the big island. But that is a trecherous 6 mile hike located out in South Point dessert which is a whole different story in itself.

This is a favorite overnighter spot for me. Pitch a pop-up with some steaks , wine and send the poles out. Remember to bring a soft pillow and sleeping bags. A portable DVD player and some good music doesnt hurt on this one.

Directions : Sorry I will not encourage visitors or locals the right of acsess here only because of the danger involved with reaching the designated area. There are many deaths reported out at this sight. A friend of mine loss his father here while cliffcasting which was a very disturbing experience. And unless you are from this area. ENTER AT YOUR OWN RISK. Safe Journeys !

Wahiawa Loop Trail 12/ 2011

This is my second time here and it is a very wet atmosphere as it is located in the foothills atop Wahiawa. This is a trail I would probably do an overnighter because there are many areas which lead off trail all of which meet up to Kaukonahua Stream which is claimed to be the longest measured river in Hawaii.

My daughter wanted to do mommy daughter day , trail great idea .... mommy daughter , not so good. My daughter has a tendency to take control of every situation & over worrying about my safety. I know its cause she loves me , but sometimes its over obsesive and she has to remember her mother did teach her alot about the mountains. So we ended up arguing on the trail which eventually lead to some cheeseburgers & ice cream after our hike. For any of you that have trailed with Yuri , you know exactly where Im coming from. Checking me for scratches and making me drink water lol thats love. She's my twinkie so I make exceptions, sometimes I need to express my softer side, I guess ... :)

It took us only 20 minutes to get down to Kaukonahua Stream . It is very majestic back here and a perfect backdrop for family photos , which I am glad I did catch some really beautiful shots of the river with my new HD- SONY camera which I pray dearly someone will surprise me with a tri-pod this christmas that would be perfect.

You will need off - bug spray as it is very wet and bugs love wetness. So my Yuri got a few mosquito bites which I immediately tended to. Good hiking shoes to avoid slippage a must.

Its nice to have a picnic here as backpacking in some beer and food is really no problem. And of course I learnned you have a beautiful river to take a swim.

The trail is well marked with ribbons lining the area, we put many in place as my daughter likes to leave her mark on the trails we do.

Expect alot off downhill decending and a nice ab work-out climbing back out.

I expect to return next year with my crew to trail it in. Me & Yuri we spent about 2 hours and returnned to my car calling it quits for some beach action.

The parking is located in a residential area and you can park anywhere along side the homes.

DIRECTIONS: Trailhead is located atop California Avenue. Entering Wahiawa take a right on California & proceed about 6 miles to the end. Once you locate a huge watertower you know youve arrived.

HAPPY HIKING

Daimondhead Crater

omg okayy so we did it , I feel like a goddamm tourist now. Its been over 25 years since Ive last stepped into the crater and would always hear friends talk about the restoration work it had undergone. So I decided to take a fast one up there.

Anyways the parking is $5 per vehicle and hell if I was planning to park at the bottom to shuttle it up , we'd still have to pay a dollar per head ; so my recommendations is for you to drive directly in. SIMPLE, gets you right to the front without all the hassle.

There is a really nice park in the valley upon entering with many picnic tables so keep that in mind.

It took us about 1 hour round trip with a well cleared modernized trail , handrails , caution signs ... the works ... The views as always from atop is always worth the sweet sweat ...

Got to the top and I'm so glad to say ... MY LILA IS BACK ! Yes !! , so we will be trailing much more ... IM SO HAPPY ... The thing is with all the parties and holiday preparation I'm hoping we'll get at lease 3 more trails before years end :)

We headed back down to the truck and drove over to Crowns which was totally empty.

So bloggers & Hui friends looks like Ill be in Ewa for a little while longer than I expected. As most of you know LILA grads this year. Dang ! How time flies . 2 down 2 to go :) .... Happy Hiking People !

Nalo Country - October 2011

Waimanalo

On my hometurf we decided to take the kids up to backroads Waimanalo. Left the westside about 11 am after stopping in at Oceanpoint to pick up Devin. Headed out to the spot and met up with the Palenapa Fam Bamz at the gate. Kyle who is always with us was out there before us with his dad who is my goodfriend Henry and all his cousins. Was hoping he could stay because it is breaktime for our Hawaii students but his family had other plans. Thats okay he's like my other son and always over with my DJ so Ill probabley get him next weekend.

The weather "Perfect" and aside from climbing over the 10 foot bob wire fence. It really isn't hard to access.

We stayed for about 5 hours while my husband jammed on his ukulele and Lila , DJ & Dev tried different angle slides while I shot video.

There were other locals who stopped in after us but all in all we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves for a day.

Nalo country waterpark lol das how we do in the country. I guess you never can really call any place on this island country aside from Kahuku & Laie really. But Nalo will always be Nalo and I will always miss the smell of the farm and cattle I grew up knowing as a girl living in Homesteads .... Huli Street Reppin' ....

After we all headed over to Nalo for sum grinds than out to Sandy's where they got their evening seshh on tubing til dark. As for me I did my rounds thru the concert where Natural Vibes & The Green filled Sandy's with a small kine skank session. The smell of Huli Chicken drowned out by the smell of " erb " filled the beach. I made a quick exit back to the sand to avoid getting stoned by second hand smoke which I have come to be allergic to and didnt really want to run into anyone cause for me its family day & I like those days to be private. LOL ...

This is the life , and I live it !

You can take the girl out the country , but the country aint comin' out the girl hustlah . Peace Pepo !
