Poolside @ Sheryl'z

OMG ! So after a day of cocktails and the most delicious gourmet lunch at Sheryl's I just had to post a little something about it in my blog.

We had been planning this luncheon from our last camp which was a few weeks ago and we all decided that each of us would whip together our favorite dishes for a small private gathering for us gals. I had been looking foward to this as the mundane activities of work and getting the kids shopping out the way had totally consumed me for the past weeks.

I love love love to cook and really appreciate people who take the time to put together a well prepared meal with options instead of slapping something on a plate and serving it to the first open mouth.

BBQ is okay , but compared to a gourmet lay-out its a no brainner. Canned Food is out of the question ! Unhealthy & just plain laziness. Canned food is the guts of a pig , cow or whatever other creature. And I just cant do that. Unless of course its a can of SPAM which Ill make an exception only because I love making Musubi's for the kids.

Cooking is the source of pure imagination and it tells you about the person who is preparing the food; I believe. Its the inner core of your culture. Anything less than that better stick to fast foods and stay hell outtah the dam kitchen.

So Sheryl decided last minute to cancel on the everybody part; and decided to whip up her entire spread herself. I was dissappointed at first as I had big plans of preparing my famous gundule rice which is an old family recipe I learned in my younger years and I know I make the best. Also my signature stuffing which is a must have at our family Thanksgiving Parties for years. But Sheryl wanted to do this so my sister calls and says to just bring dinner rolls. Of course Mere cant just do dinner rolls so I stopped by a little hole in the wall bakery in Waipahu on my way and ordered a couple dozen spanish rolls which were sure to be a winner to compliment this lunch.

Sheryl's spread was absolutely to die for. From the Cheese Wrapped Salami Rolls to the Authentic Crab Dipp to the Main Dishes , Sweet Champagne and delicious home baked cookies & pies. I am so taken back and really appreciated the seasoning used in preparing each dish, down the the presentation of this awesome lunch. F*CKING MARTAH STEWART aint got nothing on you Sheryl.

Her kitchen so organized with pothanging racks down to the patio serving station poolside. Table cloths to match the serving dishes, a beautiful outdoor pool & the hottub.

This is the way I like to serve my guest, leaving them relaxed with every taste bud in their mouth wanting more. Thank You Sisters for such a lovely day .... Who's up next ? Michelle ? Cause its Ne' for Thanksgiving and Mz got the kitchen ;) .... and cocktails , Im planning " Slam Me Up Against The Wall Shooters " & " Layered Buttery Nipples " And ladies this time I promise it'll be layered lmao ... Luvvvs To All ......

Palolo Video ( Mere & The Hui )

Palolo Waterfalls With The HUI

Okay , just wanted to do a fast coverage of this hike located at the top of Waiomao Road in the lush valley of Palolo. MY STOMPING GROUNDS !

Headed out with a crew of 10 on Saturday morning and had an awesome time. Aside from Fenai's joking around all day to Jerney & Braddah swinging around in the tree's. Im so glad I didnt go on this hike with a hangover because knowing my fat ass, I wouldve ended up over the cliff.

Anyways , got out to the valley parking about 8:30 am and we were suppose to meet up with ( W.H.O.R.E.S.) But I earlier had tex Ginger to notify her that we'd be a half hour late due to me needing a coffee and a gas station stop.

The trailhead to this hike is located down a mud like path right after the house on the right hand side. Its not very visable from the parking area , you need to walk in closer to be able to see the path which will lead you down a set of ropes and it gets really muddy & slippery here. Just keep in mind that the entire trail is the conditions of an actual pig pen so trust me , you will get very wet & dirty. ( So keep a sense of humor ) ....

After about 45 minutes you will arrive at the first waterfall. Enroute to the first is area's that are a one footed trail; where you will have no other choice but to grab on to the grass and branches hanging from the cliffside to cross these area's. You will find that on this trail there is really no time to enjoy the senic views because of it being more of an intermediate / advanced hike. Please take caution as the ground in certain area's do give away and there are dips & holes in area's we normally take for grated there would be footing.

The waterfall back here rarely hits dryspells so you are guarantied to have the most awesome view of a waterfall that is full flowed. There is a swimming hole , however I would not recommend jumping as it is very shallow.

We did our swimming and had some lunch and continued on to the second waterfall which after a rope climb or two upward you will find is right atop the first waterfall. Some of the crew continued on to the third, but because of my hike 2 days prior I decided to stop here and turn around. My legs were still hurting from Pupukea and really with all the mudd on me, my only thought was to head over to Makapuu to jump in and swim.

We got back to the parking in about 1-2 hours.

I do however regret that I did not continue on to the Crater was my tru intent of this hike. However I will return in the distant future to cover this one.

I am working on travel plans with the Hui to get me the hell off this rock for some Big Island Waterfall trailing as I will be taking a trip to check on my 2 properties there next month.

Big Island is an adventure of its own , keeping in mind that those grounds are very sacred and rooted for me. Eventually I will end up moving to Kona as most of my investments are on that island. Hopefully I will remain in top conditions as I so look foward to the valleys of Waipio and the vocanic tubes of Kilauea. Leaves me in a dreamlike state of what lays ahead for me. Not to mention the most beautiful uncharted waterfalls in the state.

Anyways fellow hikers & bloggers, PALOLO VALLEY WATERFALLS , a tad bit liferisking ( Just up my alley ) really muddy and wet ( Not Quite To My Liking ) Majectic waterfalls ( Lovely Absolutely ) like I always say , if at first you dont succeed "Dust Yourself Off And Try Again" ...

Kaulana Trail & Koolau Summit

Its been awhile fellow bloggers but Im back and after a couple months of straightning things out in my life Im ready to hike again. So ladies where do I start , I firstly want to dedicate this blog to my daughter who has faithfully through-out the years been hiking along side me. This year she will be attending Kalani High School and leaving her mother behind to persue her educational goals as a Falcon Senior, which I am 100% behind her. She will be missed as she has been someone who's always prep trail activities for me, printed out our maps, packed our gear and she's been on uncharted trails with me . When it comes to things that are very near and dear to me , she knows it all. Well atlease theres still the phone so I can call her while Im standing in clouds. That thought is very comforting ... She always worries for me and has been preventing me from doing the long coveted trail of Sacred Falls which now that she wont be here to worry so much, I will do. Sorry baby , I just gotta ... :)


This Saturday we will be trailing Kaunala Trail which is located on the Northern Shore of Oahu.

Directions: Continue south bound toward Sunset Beach and eventually you will reach an intersection that Foodland and Starbucks is located across from Sharks Cove. Take a right at that intersection and continue straight up to the very top of that hill. You will see the entrance to the trailhead located on the right side of the boyscout campgrounds. You can park anywhere along side that roadway.








Because I have another agenda in regards to some other trails I frequent in this area. I just wanted to cover the proper entrance to the trailhead , humidity in the elevation and things to bring because it is a 9 mile round trip hike.

The trailhead is well marked and also very clear , I would recommend being that its is July, to wear something cool. Bring lots of water and maybe even some swimwear because there is a river that runs thru here. So where there is water you know we'll be swimming. There is a second entry gate which is located about 15 - 20 minutes into this hike and that is the actual trailhead leading to Koolau Summit which my coverage ended today , just to get info into that point. There are signs posted everywhere that warn the public that acsess is only granted thru the Army and there is a sign that designates where to go for the permit. So everything looks clear for us. Remember to pack alot of water , bring a flashlight just incase we dont make it out in time, bug spray and dont forget to get rest cause Im back & were moving & shake'n people. Loves to all .... Camp Mokuleia

June 17th thru June 22 of 2011.

Due the the hectic schedual of my working and my Autocad nightschooling I would like to say it took me less than one week to pack for this camp which is located at a beautiful private campsite out on the northern shores of Oahu.

I would first like to thank those who were able to stop in and for those who joinned me in making this yet again another five star event.

Being that it was Fathers Day weekend I was approched by my sister last month to book reserves for our favorite site. Her idea's exceeded my expectations and all I could think of for the past few weeks leading up to this camp was how we would pull this off. The weather in Hawaii has been really sucky because of all the rain and on our previous camp last month we had more alcohol drinking than anything else because of all this rain. The children really didnt have the sunshine to enjoy Waimanalo Beach Park and pictures taken were more like a social gathering under our huge tarps instead of a camp because of all the overcast. I was happy that almost all the food went lol being that everyone had no other choice but to kanikapila and drink for 6 days because of the rain and clouds. So I decided to skip posting that event in my blogger.

Anyways we all headed out early on Friday calling each other back and forth on our cell's excited about leaving reality behind to enjoy the week ahead. And if I may add a bluetooth really comes in handy when your driving and your mind has more than a million things running thru it all at once.

Arrived at Camp Mokuleia at about 10 am and started our unpacking ritual like we do at all of our camps. 3 handtrucks & 2 carts really came in handy while hauling everything in from the parking area. The campground was fullhouse and every site reserved for the weekend. Pitching our tents and setting our kitchen only called for a few glasses of champagne ( my favorite ) to put our spirits in the bubbly mood for this Friday evenning that never ended.

The men were rigging their fishing equiptment while us ladies prepared a beautiful dinner and dessert. I ended up leaving for a little bit to run into Waialua to stop in at one of my favorite hole in the wall bakerys to pick up some lilikoi butter for bagels but they were out so instead I ended up with three boxxes full of goodies and the best custard pies ever. Paalaa Kai Bakery is a must do while out here. Their pasteries after 7pm are all discounted at 50% off so whenever we stay out at Turtle Bay I always visit to pick up on their sweet deals.

Anyways I must have gotten lost in the moment of staring thru the pastery glass that I lost track of time. Arrived back at the campsite and to my surprise there was a live concert schedualed for this evenning with a dancefloor set up on the basket ball courts. There was a local band playing which all the teenagers in our party really enjoyed and the music was so loud that even my ipod and docker enjoyed a night on vacay with me lol.

Our first night never ended with friends stopping in , good music , cocktails and a dinner to send you to heaven.

The facilities are all renovated and hotwater shower stalls in the mens & womans bathrooms. Which anyone who's had a long day would truely appreciate.

I woke in the morning to the sound of my sisters voice " Breakfast " with a hangover that lasted for only a few minutes as I made my way straight to the beach for my morning bath. I was so happy that everything turnned out perfect as the sun shinned down casting shadows in the sand of this lovely private beach. The setting is absolutely beautiful and I call it the " Adam & Eve " beach just because it leaves you breathless. Well it leaves me breathless but thats another story ....

The children enjoyed their crabbing, campfires, ghost stories and chocolate smores. That at the end of each night they would travel back to their tents without a pep off to lala land allowing the adults to have their time enjoying cocktails and music.

Fathers Day we prepared Yakiniku Woks and fresh shabbu shabbu for dinner. I must say that when we camp its never a ghetto experience and only the best will do. Down to the xfactor of self inflating airbeds and surround sound music we top it off. The men really appreciated their special day and may I ephasize that Fathers Day is a very special day because most of the time men go unnoticed for their part in raising their children. Waking up every morning to face a unforgiving world just to get by and be that man their child needs to inspire them thru life. So yes, it turnned out to be exactly what was called for to show appreciation to the men in our group. My saying is: " A way to a mans heart is thru his underware which eventually leads to his stomach ; Take care of those two needs and a happy life you shall live."

Thank you to my friends who found the time out of their busy lives for your phonecalls and for my besty Sofia for stopping by all these days. For the turtles that entertainned us , the crabs that allowed us to play predator vs. wild lol and for the stars, ocean, sun & moon that made our days & nights something for the children to remember.

For a surreal private nature orientated campground I would recommend it for any family because everytime Im out here I never wanna leave. I will miss my early morning commute out to Pupukea for my Starbucks and my early evenning walks out to the pastures to feed the horses but as long as I know that it will never be "the last time" it makes me smile. Camp Mokuleia thank you once again.
